Hello, my name is Mary Attwood and welcome to my website.
How does it feel to be able to have a bit more freedom now that our lockdown is gradually easing?
Has your anxiety and stress levels risen because of it?
A lot of peoples' mental health has suffered since the Covid-19 situation forced the country to go into yet another lockdown. Now that we are coming out of it, for some people, it can escalate anxieties even more and they feel they have nowhere to turn to for help.
Maybe I can help, but before I continue, let me tell you a little bit about how Purple Emperor Therapy Services came to be.....
Purple Emperor Therapy Services is in honour of one of my best friends who sadly passed away in October 2018. We started together on our journey training to be counsellors, but sadly due to health reasons, she was unable to continue. She was there to support me every step of the way until I qualified. I made a vow, that my therapy services would be for both of us. As we both love butterflies and her favourite colour was purple, I felt it appropriate to choose a name that represented both. Upon searching, I found that we have the Purple Emperor Butterfly in this country which couldn't have been more appropriate, hence the title!
As a Counsellor, I have always had a belief that we all have the answers to many of our problems within us,
but sometimes we need a little help for us to achieve this.
When you are feeling anxious, low or when you're at your most vulnerable, deciding to seek help is the first biggest step you will take towards having a better well-being. Trying to find the right therapist is the second biggest step and this can be the hardest.
It feels like a daunting task, doesn't it?
It can feel like you've stepped into a maze but don't know which way to turn. This alone can make you feel even more anxious, lost and confused than you're feeling right now. There are so many counsellors out there, but which one do you choose?
Remember, when making your choice, you are in control of your own well-being.
Along with online, video and telephone counselling, I also provide a
confidential face to face environment for my clients in either the heart of Sudbury town centre just a short walk from the Market Square or in Trinity Street, opposite the Holy Trinity Church in Colchester.
I have trained in various modalities as a humanistic counsellor and have an integrative approach using various techniques that work best for my clients individual needs.
I have a non-judgemental approach and my clients are always at the forefront of all my work. I can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings to help you achieve your goals.
I have over 23 years experience working within the NHS, and 2 years counselling in drug and substance misuse.
I am fully insured and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors & Psychotherapists) Member 375268.
